Health & Safety

FGF Developments and fgf Bitumen are committed to ensuring the health and safety of its employees,
sub-contractors and visitors, integrating safe working practices into all areas of operation. With approximately 100 permanent staff between the two companies and a large contingent of subcontractors and consultants, FGF has trained ten (10) of it's supervisory staff as Workplace Health & Safety Officers (WHSO) and one (1) member dedicated as the Workplace Health & Safety Officer, which equates to an average of one (1) WHSO to every ten (10) staff.

We have developed and implemented a safety policy and safety procedures as a working guide to achieve the highest possible standard of compliance with workplace health and safety legislative requirements which we require all staff to be aware of, understand and abide by.

Our site supervisors are dedicated to ensuring the health and safety of the staff and sub-contractors working with them by under taking regular toolbox talks to keep staff informed of any changes and assessing their site for any potential hazards/risks.

The Workplace Health and Safety Act 1995 sets out a framework to achieve its objectives of preventing a person's death, injury or illness being caused by a workplace or workplace activities. This Act also incorporates or nominates a wide range of Regulations, Advisory Standards and Australian Standards dealing with specific health and safety issues.

FGF requires that everyone working with them including sub-contractors adhere to these requirements and the instructions given by the supervisors.

Quality Assurance

FGF have developed a Quality Management System and is registered as a Quality Assured Supplier to Queensland Government Agencies. The registration covers the provision of civil construction including subdivisions and road construction incorporating earthworks, pavement construction, signage, roadworks furniture, drainage and associated works (Certificate No. 7006) . FGF Bitumen (an affiliated company with fgf Developments) is also registered as a Quality Assured Supplier to Queensland Government Agencies. The registration covers the provision of bitumen spray sealing and asphalt paving and associated works (Certificate No. 7007) .

Our Quality Management System provides a structure, including documentation and processes, which enables the delivery of services to be controlled and managed to consistently meet the specified requirements of our clients specifications and standards as well as fgf's own requirements. Establishing and implementing the Quality Management System involved:

•  Developing processes, and documented procedures to manage risks,
•  Identifying and providing resources and allocating responsibilities to suite the procedures,
•  Implementing the procedures,
•  Monitoring, auditing and improving the implementation of procedures, and
•  Regularly reviewing and improving the Quality Management System.

By having a Quality Management System in place FGF aim to:

•  Provide the level of quality in the work carried out that is not less than that specified within the contract, or by the client,
•  Ensure our suppliers and subcontractors operate with the same objectives in mind,
•  Continually improve our practices, and all accept the culture of reviewing what we have done, with the aim to improve the way we work.
•  Maximise our profit potential by reducing rework and minimizing waste in all processes,
•  Keep up with technology, training, plant and equipment changes,
•  Strive for continued improvement of services by reduction of waste and rework and reviews of the      management system and our objectives.
•  Comply with legislative and regulatory requirements and strive for industry best practice.

FGF has achieved an “enviable” level of service provision by ensuring our staff are trained for their specific tasks and adequate resources, plant and equipment are allocated to our projects to ensure compliance with our clients needs.

Training

FGF Developments and fgf Bitumen are committed to the ongoing training and development of staff at all levels and encourages the acquisition of new skills relevant to the job.

Skills are developed largely through on-the-job experience and instructions from Site Supervisors, but are also developed through training programs held by Registered Training Organisations (RTO).

FGF Developments and FGF Bitumen also recognize that some of their existing workers have substantial experience and job knowledge with no qualifications. To assist these workers to become qualified or achieve the recognition that may be required for some licensed occupations fgf have nominated and engaged a Registered Training Organisation (RTO) for the assessment of existing skills (which includes the recognition of prior learning (RPL) processes) of employee's and to provide the required training to bring the employee to a higher skill level

By providing this level of training to our staff we ensure that our staff are appropriately trained to meet position requirements and to meet the needs of our clients.
