WHS, Quality & Environmental 

fgf implements an Integrated Management System (IMS) which is third party certified and includes Quality, WHS and Environmental Management Systems. The IMS has been developed and is certified to AS/NZS 4801:2001, ISO 9001:2015 and ISO 14001:2015 standards.

Workplace Health & Safety

fgf is committed to ensuring the health and safety of its employees, subcontractors and visitors by integrating safe working practices into all areas of operation. With approximately 70+ permanent staff and a large contingent of subcontractors and consultants, fgf has trained supervisors and managers as Workplace Health & Safety Officers (WHSO) and a dedicated Workplace Health & Safety Officer to ensure WHS management is maintained at all times.

We have developed and implemented a safety policy and safety procedures as a working guide to achieve the highest possible standard of compliance with workplace health and safety legislative requirements which we require all staff to be aware of, understand and abide by.

Our site supervisors are dedicated to ensuring the health and safety of the staff and subcontractors working with them by undertaking regular toolbox talks to keep staff informed of any changes and assessing their site for any potential hazards/risks.

The Work Health and Safety Act sets out a framework to achieve its objectives of preventing a person’s death, injury or illness being caused by a workplace or workplace activities. This Act also incorporates or nominates a wide range of Regulations, Advisory Standards and Australian Standards dealing with specific health and safety issues.

fgf requires that all employees, sub-contractors, clients and associates adhere to the requirements and the instructions provided by staff within our policy and procedures.

Quality Assurance

fgf’s third party certified Quality Management System provides a structure, including documentation and processes, which enables the delivery of services to be controlled and managed to consistently meet the specified requirements of our clients’ specifications and standards as well as fgf’s own requirements. Establishing and implementing the Quality Management System involves:

 Developing processes, and documented procedures to manage risks,
 Identifying and providing resources and allocating responsibilities to suit the procedures,
 Implementing the procedures,
 Monitoring, auditing and improving the implementation of procedures, and
 Regularly reviewing and improving the Quality Management System.

By having a Quality Management System in place fgf aim to:

 Provide a high level of quality in the work carried out that is not less than that specified within the contract, or by the client,
 Ensure our suppliers and subcontractors operate with the same objectives in mind,
 Continually improve our practices, and all accept the culture of reviewing what is being carried out, with the aim to improve the way we work.
 Maximise our profit potential by reducing rework and minimising waste in all processes,
 Keep up with technology, training, plant and equipment changes,
 Strive for continued improvement of services by reduction of waste and rework and reviews of the management system and our objectives.
 Comply with legislative and regulatory requirements and strive for industry best practice.

fgf has achieved a high level of service by ensuring our staff are trained for their specific tasks and adequate resources, plant and equipment are allocated to our projects to ensure compliance with our clients needs.

Environmental Protection

Based in Cairns, far north Queensland and surrounded by two world heritage areas fgf is committed to protecting the environment in accordance with all EPA guidelines and our own adopted construction procedures.

fgf's strict environmental policy, procedures and instructions are applied daily on a wide variety of projects ranging from water and sewer projects to road and infrastructure projects. fgf encourages recommendations and suggestions from employees, clients and the community in relation to good environmental construction management, input which will allow fgf to continue to set environmental construction standards for others to achieve.

fgf’s environmental management system has been developed to suit the specific needs of both internal and external customers in accordance with the requirements of IS0 14001:2015 – Environmental Management Systems. All projects are assigned their own team of fgf professionals including trained personnel to carry out internal audits for compliance to procedures.


fgf is committed to the ongoing training and development of staff at all levels and encourages the acquisition of new skills relevant to the job.

fgf's training needs analysis (TNA) program, ensures employees are trained to meet position requirements & the needs of our clients. Skills are developed largely through on-the-job training and instructions from experienced supervisors & mangers, but also developed through up to date training programs held by Registered Training Organisations.

fgf also recognises some of their existing workers have substantial experience and job knowledge with no qualifications. To assist these workers become qualified and/or achieve the recognition that may be required for some licensed occupations, fgf have nominated and engaged a Registered Training Organisation for the assessment of existing skills of our employees (which includes the recognition of prior learning processes) and to provide the required training to bring the employees to a higher skill level.
